This Week's Snow Report & Forecast – Friday, 15th December 23

We are back in sweltering Sydney after a quick reccie to Japan and the change from winter to summer has been a bit of a shock to say the least!

Our trip was great, but when isn’t a visit to Japan awesome? We got to check out a few new places and do some really fun stuff while we were there – ramen-making class or bike food tour, anyone?

The weather was superb while we were there, well good for touring not necessarily great for snow. But don’t sweat it - it’s a bit early for the real show.

The snow engines are firing up and while some resorts have been affected by a bit of rain this week, this weekend promises to be the start of a sustained period of snow across most regions.

Hakuba saw a fraction more snow than forecast with 34 cm falling at Happo and the outlook for the next week is even better with more than double that – 89 cm expected. This is great news for our first group of the season arriving just as the snow arrives!

Nozawa Onsen has had a little breather over the last few weeks (by Nozawa standards) which will change on Sunday with a 39 cm forecast over the day to be followed by 124 cm over the following week. Yewww!

Appi Snow Resort saw some good numbers over the week which will continue into this weekend – delivering a very nice 64 cm for the week. This looks to continue and improve next week with a further 99 cm forecast in the run-up to Christmas Eve

Niseko keeps delivering the goods, with consistent falls week after week. Last week saw 43 cm taking the total for the season to 265 cm and this looks to improve even more with a further 78 cm for the following week.

It seems Santa has loaded up his sleigh with snow in the lead-up to Christmas which is awesome news. Bring it on!

Wishing you peace, love and powder days.❄️
