Japan Entry Requirements

The great news is that Japan is now open to visitors after a very long two and a half year hiatus. But like many countries navigating a post COVID world, it’s not quite as simple as just turning up to the airport, passport in hand. Thankfully Japan has reinstated its visa exemption scheme for tourists and business travellers staying for less than 90 days which is fantastic news for Aussie travellers.

It’s worth highlighting that visitors to Japan need to have been vaccinated and boosted with an approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to visiting. Alternatively, those that don’t meet this requirement can provide a negative PCR test within 72 hours before departure.

Part of our service is making sure our clients meet any COVID requirements but we have heard of some solo travellers being caught out here. If you’re not using the services of a travel adviser like The Snow Concierge, it always pays to check current requirements in this constantly evolving world.

As at the date of posting, you will also need to register with Visit Japan Web and complete immigration and health questionnaires, a health survey, as well as uploading your vaccination certificate. The good news is that it’s a very simple process - think of it as your passport to a snow utopia. Happy shredding!
