Packing For The Snow…

When it’s summer in Australia, it can sometimes be hard to get your head around packing for a winter snow trip. We get it, it’s 30 degrees outside, you’d rather be at the beach and you’re having to pull out thermals and winter coats.

We’re heading to Japan this week for a powder fix so we thought we’d share our basic packing list as a kick starter for those of you about to hit the norther hemisphere winter (spoiler alert…it looks like you’re in for a treat!)

If you’re anything like us, you may not carry a hard copy of your licence or credit card on you back home - but it’s definitely worth rethinking this when travelling as many countries won’t accept a digital version of these items. So if you’re trying to show ID to get into a bar, you could get stuck. Even more so with credit card ‘tap and go’ which just isn’t as prevalent in a lot of countries. And in Japan, cash is still king so make sure you always have some on you. In the US, you’ll want to have loads of singles on you for tips (your hotel concierge will be able to change larger notes for you).

It’s also worth double checking any medications are legal in your destination. A lot of common prescription meds are in fact banned in some countries. And it’s always good to pack a few painkillers, some Imodium and Hydralite, as well as a first aid kit so you’re not having to play charades at the pharmacy when you least feel like it!

Lastly, it’s always tempting to pack those few extra items ‘just in case’. Let’s be real, if you don’t wear it at home, you probably won’t wear it at your destination. Besides, we always like to leave room for any purchases we make while we’re away. Happy shredding!

Wishing you peace, love and powder days!
