The Snow Concierge was created to simplify the logistics of planning and executing ski holidays in Japan.
We identified from our own experience that there was an opportunity to offer time-poor snow travellers an end-to-end service that took care of the rigmarole of embarking on a ski or snowboard trip, leaving them only to worry about which chair to ride on the mountain and what time to stop for lunch.
Travelling with ski gear to and within Japan can be somewhat challenging at times, the train network in Japan is legendary but it doesn’t really cater for oversized bags. And after all, if you have your own gear, why hire?
Japan’s luggage forwarding service, or takkyubin, is amazing, and we can’t recommend it highly enough for its cost efficiency (see our previous article on the topic). That said there are times when takkyubin may not suit your travel schedule as bags can take a few days to get to their destination, longer if it is snowing, which can be a problem if you are heading straight to the ski-fields. No one wants to arrive in the snow before their equipment – especially when there is all that powder to enjoy!
